The simple life Sounds simple doesn't it?  But really achieving a simple life in our complicated over-busy age is anything but. The basic components of life - food, shelter, love - the act of achieving any of these require lots of work and sustained effort and no small amounts of stress. Back in our parents and grandparents generation, people went to school, worked in the fields, in the shops, in factories and on farms.  It was a big achievement to get an office job.  They went to school and frequently completed only a few years of secondary education before getting a permanent job or going to work on the family farm.  They cultivated close family, friends and neighbour relationships. In the absence of labour-saving machines like combine harvesters and tractors they were very much reliant on their neighbours to help them in times of sowing and harvest - that wonderful word "meithel" translating to "collective effort for the greater good" thus summing up wh...
